This blog is not a political rant about the state of either medicine in the UK, nor is it an evangelistic advert for open source software. What does contain is observations from a front line NHS worker with 12 years experience as a doctor, and 5 years experience of using open source software.
I’d be the first to say that I’m not the most natural wordsmith. So apologies in advance.
What systems I run
At Work
- Windows 2003 Server
- Windows XP Desktops
- INPS Vision
At Home
- Several machines running Ubuntu Linux
- An android phone
Why machines (plural) at home. I don’t like to chuck out perfectly decent though old PC’s that I’ve acquired. I try and give away some where possible, but I can always inject some new life into ‘old’ machines by installing some variation of linux. Obviously I like to keep an eye on my carbon foot print, and more importantly the electricity bill.
